Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience within a mechanical design environment.

• Proven experience of product development from prototype through to volume manufacture.

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including folding and welding, with Design for Manufacture expertise.

• Experience using Solid Edge or a comparable 3D CAD package, together with GD&T, DFMEA and tolerance stack-up analysis.

This is a senior, quota-carrying individual contributor role, with a wide remit spanning direct sales, public sector procurement and framework routes, and a growing partner channel.

Our client's buyers operate under real regulatory and financial pressure, and are sceptical of vendors who do not understand their world. This role is about building credibility and a deliberate, well-qualified pipeline, not chasing activity volume: sales cycles typically run six to eighteen months and are often gated by formal procurement.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Customer Success, you will own new business revenue generation from first contact through to signed contract, lead responses to formal public sector procurement, and grow a partner and supply-chain channel where existing customers extend the platform to their own contractors. You will have direct access to senior leadership on strategic opportunities and will be expected to help shape how the business sells, not simply execute an existing process.

Responsibilities for the Senior Business Development Manager:

• Own the full new business sales cycle, from first contact to signed contract, building a mix of direct wins, framework awards and partner referrals
• Build and defend value-based pricing, protecting margin and contract length rather than discounting to win
• Lead responses to formal public sector procurement, including ITTs, competitive dialogue, DPS and framework opportunities
• Grow the partner and supply-chain channel, building the commercial case for contractor adoption and managing reseller relationships
• Maintain disciplined CRM pipeline management, providing accurate weekly commits, monthly forecasts and quarterly views

Requirements for the Senior Business Development Manager include:

• A track record of consistently hitting or exceeding new business software targets of a comparable value
• Experience selling complex business software, ideally SaaS, into organisations with formal procurement and multiple stakeholders
• Demonstrable success with public sector or regulated buyers, including formal tender processes
• The ability to run a long sales cycle without losing momentum, mapping stakeholders and managing an internal champion
• Strong commercial literacy, including pricing models, recurring revenue mechanics and contract negotiation
