Our client is a leading organisation in Exeter, well-regarded for delivering high-quality and sustainable building services across their portfolio. They are seeking a skilled professional to strengthen their estates team, ensuring reliability, safety and efficiency in their mechanical engineering services.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance (Building Services) to manage and deliver a variety of small to medium-scale projects and planned preventative maintenance works. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance, safety and operational excellence, while contributing to the continuous improvement of building services across the estate.
Hybrid working: 2-3 days a week from the Exeter Office
Contract: Initially 6 months up to 12 months
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance include:
- Design and manage small to medium mechanical works, maintenance projects and planned preventative maintenance contracts.
- Oversee procurement processes, including tendering, contractor appointment and financial control, through to project completion.
- Monitor and manage incoming help desk jobs, providing technical advice, estimates and effective repair solutions.
- Ensure project delivery within budget, timescales and compliance with health and safety requirements, including ISO 9001 systems and H&S site checks.
Requirements for the Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance include:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering within building services.
- Recognised mechanical (building services) qualification or equivalent to CIBSE Incorporated Membership level.
- Strong technical ability to liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders, including drafting mechanical specifications.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical design, health and safety legislation, standards, construction processes and project resource planning.
Desirable experience includes HVAC knowledge, Legionella in Water Systems, and/or a background in laboratory or medical environments.
